June's People's Practice

A Sacred Practice Of Discipline Pt 1

This people’s practice will be half workshop and half practice. For the first half, we will explore themes of spiritual discipline in the liberation movement, physical discipline among individual Black bodies and the collective Black body, and spiritual and physical discipline in sacred texts.

For the second half, we will learn and practice Qi Gong, learning how to implement the practice in our every day lives, and toward building out our collective spiritual, mental, physical, and movement discipline. This practice connects to our mental and spiritual selves. When we are able to control our breathwork through Qi Gong, it allows our minds and bodies to connect and focus in a way that they usually wouldn’t.

Collective spiritual and holistic discipline is necessary as we decolonize and seek to reclaim our connection to the most high. And there is deep importance of collective discipline as we work towards our liberation.

This is a TWO part series, so please plan to be back next month as we upgrade our practice to incorporate Tai Chi

As a Certified Recreation Therapist and Tai Chi for Health Instructor, Autumn Robertson provides customized tai chi programs designed to increase flexibility & muscular strength, restore natural energy, improve joint range of motion, decrease blood pressure, improve concentration and coordination, and promote relaxation. Autumn’s tai chi programs focus on integrating breath control, movement, and meditation to promote vitality and wellness.
